In our country, Karnataka state is at the forefront in growing horticulture crops (Horticulture Department), this sector is increasing day by day and to encourage farmers to grow horticulture crops, subsidy is given by the department under various schemes in which two schemes are explained here in this article today.

Under which scheme farmers can get subsidy to get many facilities like nursery, vegetable seed production, construction of new garden, agricultural pit? Where to apply? What are the required documents? Other details are mentioned in this column.

Which facilities are eligible for financial assistance:

  • 1) Nurseries.
  • 2) Establishment of New Tissue Culture Unit.
  • 3) Seed production for vegetables.
  • 4) Establishment of new plantations.
  • 5) Rehabilitation of old plantations.
  • 6) Mushroom production.
  • 7) Creation of water resources.
  • 8) Protected Cultivation.
  • 9) Human resource development.
  • 10) Aftermarket Management (PHM).
  • 11) Cold storage.
  • 12) Establishment of infrastructure in markets.

Where to submit the application?

  • Interested eligible farmers should visit your taluk horticulture department office and apply along with necessary documents.

Unit wise subsidy details are as follows:

Facilities are being provided to provide good quality planting material to the farmers.

1) Nurseries :

A subsidy of 40% up to Rs.40 lakhs will be given for setting up a high-tech type nursery in an area of ​​4 hectares to produce at least 2 lakh transplants annually. A maximum subsidy of Rs.7.50 lakhs will be given at 50% for setting up a small nursery on hectare area and producing at least 50,000 transplants annually.

2) Establishment of New Tissue Culture Unit:

There is an opportunity to provide a subsidy of 40% up to a maximum of Rs 1.0 crore for setting up a tissue culture unit required to produce at least 25 lakh tissue culture seedlings of good quality and disease resistance per year.

3) Seed production for vegetables:

Subsidy of Rs.0.1225 lakhs to a maximum of Rs.0.525 lakhs per hectare is allowed as 35% of the cost for seed production of high quality vegetable crops in a maximum area of ​​5 hectares. Development of infrastructure for seed processing of horticulture crops (Seed Infrastructure for processing, packing, storage etc.). 50% subsidy upto a maximum of Rs.100 lakhs for establishment of seed processing unit and infrastructure for sowing seeds of horticulture crops, processing, sorting and quality improvement.

4) Establishment of new plantations:

Subsidy from Rs.0.10 lakhs to a maximum of Rs.0.50 lakhs per hectare is given for new growth of perennial fruit crops like grape, mango, pomegranate, lemon, orange, moose, sibe, banana, pineapple, etc., for expansion of area and maintenance. Subsidy from Rs.0.10 lakhs to a maximum of Rs.0.40 lakhs per hectare for area expansion of cut flowers, tuberous flowers and spare flowers in flower crops. Subsidy from Rs.0.12 lakhs to a maximum of Rs.0.40 lakhs per hectare for area expansion of sambar crops, aromatic crops and garden crops.

5) Rehabilitation of old plantations:

A subsidy of up to Rs.0.40 lakh is provided for a maximum area of ​​2 hectares to rehabilitate old and unproductive plantations of mango, lemon, mosambi, gera and black pepper crops.

6) Mushroom Production:

To promote mushroom cultivation, there is an opportunity to provide subsidy from Rs.6 lakhs to a maximum of Rs.8 lakhs for setting up Mushroom Production Unit, Spawn Manufacturing Unit and Competition Manufacturing Units.

7) Creation of Water resource:

Subsidy from Rs.0.75 lakhs to a maximum of Rs.4 lakhs is allowed for construction of individual/community agricultural wells to provide irrigation facility to horticulture crops in difficult conditions.

8) Protected Cultivation:

A maximum of 4.000 sq.mts of various layouts for growing high quality horticultural crops by adopting conservation farming practices. For the construction of green house and shade screen units, 50% subsidy from Rs.7.5 lakhs to a maximum of Rs.16.00 lakhs is allowed. For purchase of tillers, farmers will be allowed subsidy ranging from Rs.12,000/- to a maximum of Rs.1.00 lakhs.

9) Human Resource Development:

Each person will be allowed to visit horticulture research centers and progressive farmers’ centers to get information about the latest innovations and technologies in the field of horticulture and to provide appropriate training to the farmers in this regard.

10) Post-collateral Management (PHM):

Fruit, vegetable and flower crops are highly perishable products and for their adequate management various infrastructure facilities are being provided for providing better marketing along with handling, sorting, storage and value addition of horticulture products.

Farmers will be given subsidy up to a maximum of Rs.2 lakh per unit for constructing a pack house on their land. A maximum subsidy of Rs.17.50 lakhs will be provided for setting up an integrated pack house unit necessary for handling horticulture produce from harvesting to packing. A subsidy of up to Rs.8.75 lakhs per unit will be provided for setting up of Pd-photocatalytic units required to reduce field temperature in horticulture crops after harvest.

11) Cold Storage:

For the construction of cold storage (with a maximum storage capacity of 5000 metric tons) required for long-term storage of horticulture produce, subsidy from Rs.140 lakhs to a maximum of Rs.175 lakhs at the rate of 35% is allowed.

A maximum subsidy of Rs.9.10 lakhs will be given at the rate of 35% for the purchase of refrigerated vehicles of 4 to 9 metric tons capacity to transport the stored horticulture produce to the market without spoilage. A maximum subsidy of Rs.10 lakhs will be allowed for setting up primary processing units required for value addition of horticulture products. Subsidy of 35% up to a maximum of Rs.105 lakhs will be provided for the construction of a fruit ripening unit with a maximum capacity of 300 metric tons for scientifically ripening mangoes and bananas after harvesting and supplying them to the market. Subsidy of 50% up to a maximum of Rs.0.875 lakhs will be given for the construction of low cost onion storage unit which will be used to store onions after harvest and get better market price.

12) Establishment of Infrastructure in Markets:

Subsidies are provided as follows for the construction of various types of market stalls required to provide suitable sales arrangements for the horticulture products grown by the farmers and fetch good prices.
